Of every category we measure, this one has the highest padding share. That is worth sitting with for a second, given that the subject is how not to waste your time.

The reason is structural. A productivity video is usually built around one idea that can be stated in a sentence — batch similar work, protect a block in the morning, stop context-switching. A sentence is not a video, so the idea gets a story, a counter-example, a personal experiment, a recap, and a closing restatement. The idea is fine. The ratio is not.

This shelf is ordered by what survives that treatment: the share of runtime that adds something the previous minute did not. Videos that state a method and then demonstrate it on real work rank above videos that state a method and then restate it, and that ordering is the entire point of the page.

Each entry names the second the useful part starts, which in this category is often the single most valuable number on the row. A twenty-minute video whose method begins at 6:20 has not wasted your time — unless you watch it from the beginning.
