Design is the category where the density measurement most often disagrees with the view count, and the reason is that a large share of the best-performing content in this subject is not instructional at all. It is inspirational: a portfolio walk, a trends roundup, a beautifully shot studio tour. Those are worth watching. They are not worth studying, and they get ranked here as what they are.

What scores well on this shelf is the video that takes a real artefact, says what is wrong with it in specific terms, and rebuilds it while explaining each decision. That format is dense almost by construction — every minute contains a judgement you can disagree with, which is the thing you actually learn from.

Ordering is by measured value density, with the minute the critique starts named on every entry, because design videos front-load context more than any other category we measure: the brief, the client, the constraints, the tools, and then the work.

We are measuring how much a video teaches per minute. We are not judging the taste inside it, and we are not ranking the designers.

How this ranking is decided

Every video here was measured on the same axes: how much of its runtime carries information, how much is padding, and the second at which it starts paying off. The order is by value density, not by views, recency or how much we liked the channel. What the numbers mean →
