Linguistics on YouTube divides into two formats that share a shelf. The first is the curiosity list: ten words that do not translate, the strangest writing systems, why English spelling is like that. It is genuinely interesting and it is built from facts that do not connect to each other, which is exactly the shape the density measurement scores conservatively — a list of twelve unrelated items is not twelve minutes of building understanding.
The second explains a mechanism. Why a sound shift propagates through a population, what a case system is doing that word order does otherwise, how a creole forms and why the outcome is so consistent across unrelated cases. Those videos are harder to make and they rank higher here, because each minute depends on the one before it.
Ordering is by measured value density, so this shelf will disagree with a popularity ranking more than most. The curiosity videos are frequently the ones with the view counts.
Entries carry a difficulty level. Some of the material near the top assumes you already know what a phoneme is, and that assumption is the reason it can be dense.
